Travelodge opens two hotels today in the West Midlands and boosts it local network to 25 hotels
Travelodge officially opens its first hotel in Walsall and Solihull creating 40 new jobs and brings its premium room concept SuperRooms to Solihull
The budget hotel chain also announces its actively looking for five more hotel sites across the region
This expansion represents an investment of £30 million for third party investors and a job creation of 125
Despite the uncertainty and economic pressures caused by Brexit, West Midland’s first budget hotel chain, Travelodge is continuing to expand in the region. Today, Travelodge officially opens its first hotel in Walsall and Solihull.
Collectively these two hotels represent an investment of £15 million for third party investors, create 40 new jobs and boost Travelodge’s portfolio to 580 hotels - which includes 25 properties in the West Midlands.
Walsall Travelodge, a 60-room hotel located close to the railway station represents an investment of £5 million for the landlord, and has created 12 new jobs. The purpose built hotel was officially opened today by Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority, Mayor of Walsall, Marco Longhi and Hannah Thomson, Travelodge, People Director.
Solihull Travelodge, an 82-room hotel represents an investment of £10 million for the landlord, and has created 28 new jobs. The hotel was officially opened by Gary Steele, Travelodge Regional Director for the South-West, and Adnan Ahmad, District Manager for Birmingham and hotel manager, Jyoti Rana.
The hotel features an on-site restaurant called the Bar Café, complimentary car parking and offers 16 SuperRooms, the company’s premium economy room. This new class of room, the first of its kind in the UK budget hotel market, dials up the comfort factor with a concept designed especially for business and leisure customers who want the extra choice of a more premium room.
Solihull Travelodge is the second hotel in the West Midlands to offer SuperRooms, the other hotel is Birmingham Bull Ring Travelodge. (See notes to editors for further information on SuperRooms).
In addition to opening two hotels in the West Midlands today, Travelodge also announced that the region remains a key target area for the company and to meet consumer demand it is actively looking for a further five hotel sites.
Collectively this expansion programme would represent an investment of £30 million for third party investors and would create around 125 new jobs across the region. Locations include:
· Two sites in Coventry, one in the city centre
· Edgbaston / Selly Oak
· Worcester
· Wolverhampton
