Bordering London, Buckinghamshire is often overlooked as a commuter county. However, there’s much more to offer than good transport links. Stay in a hotel in Buckinghamshire and you have a choice between knowledge and power. Pick the former and head to Bletchley Park where WWII Enigma was solved. Opting for power? See how far your body can take you as you tackle a ropes course 14 metres in the air. Neither take your fancy? Fine. Your consolation prize is amazing: Spend the day exploring the waterways and great English landscape.

Book hotels in Buckinghamshire

Book a hotel in Buckinghamshire and begin your day at Bletchley Park. After the release of The Imitation Game, the story of Alan Turing, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, it has had a revival. Drive 10 minutes from our Milton Keynes Shenley Church End Hotel and you’re there. Spend the morning learning about life here during WWII, and then wander through the stately home. Kids too young to enjoy Bletchley Park? Take them to Bekonscot Model Village? Described by visitors as “truly fantastic”, your kids (translation: you and your kids) will love playing real-life big friendly giants for the day. Fun fact: the model village opened in 1929, making it the world’s oldest. Our nearby Beaconsfield Central Hotel, it’s a twenty minute walk away.

Things to do in Buckinghamshire

Adrenaline obsessives, race to Ariel Extreme, a high ropes course which is only three miles from our Milton Keynes Central Hotel. As you’re Tarzan-ing through the tree tops, you’ll have a great view over Willen Lake. Pause. Soak it in. It serves as a good distraction before some of the more challenging of the 37 total obstacles you’ll complete. If you prefer your feet on the ground, why not take a trip to Waddesdon Manor. It’s a huge French renaissance-style château and Victorian style gardens owned by the famous Rothschild family. From here, it’s 7.3 miles back to our Aylesbury Hotel.
