The first planned community of the Victorian era, Fleetwood is a Lancashire seaside town that offers easy access to its better known neighbour Blackpool, and the contrastingly serene beauty of the Lake District. The town's most prominent feature is the Mount, a 7-acre park facing the seafront, with an uninterrupted view across Morecambe Bay towards the Lake District to the north, a view described by author Bill Bryson as "easily one of the most beautiful in the world”.

Book hotels near Fleetwood

If you book into a hotel near Fleetwood, you'll find yourself on the doorstep of one of the UK’s best-loved seaside towns. Those unafraid of heights should head straight for the Blackpool Tower, just 1.6 miles from the Blackpool South Shore Hotel. Giddy and wind-blown, you may then prefer the low-level, traditional seaside entertainment provided by the famous Blackpool Central Pier, only a few minutes walk from the Blackpool South Promenade Hotel. Full of attractions and stalls to entertain the family, the pier is illuminated at night, and offers good old-fashioned fairground favourites such as dodgems and waltzers as well as family-friendly shows in the pier’s theatre.

Things to do near Fleetwood

It inspired William Wordsworth to write some of the most famous poetry in English literature, and it will inspire you. The Lake District is majestic and imposing, and welcomes thousands of walkers, naturalists and sightseers every year. It is also home to a great variety of wildlife, due to its range of varied topography, lakes and forests, including rarities such as the red squirrel and colonies of sundew and butterwort, two of the few carnivorous plants native to Britain. It’s 40 miles from our Lancaster M6 Hotel but well worth the trip obviously.
