North Yorkshire has repeatedly come up on ‘Best Places in the UK to Live’ polls and we’re betting the fact that 40% of the county is covered by national parks has something to do with it. Stay in a hotel in North Yorkshire and discover some of Britain’s most stunning landscapes, coastlines and fascinating historical sites. But the countryside is not all it’s good for. The towns are full of character with their cobbled streets and old charm. On top of this, Yorkshiremen are known for their hospitality. Discover it for yourself.

Things to do in North Yorkshire

If it’s sunny, move a visit to seaside town Whitby to the top of your to-do list. Start by visiting Whitby Abbey, a spectacular ruin. Rumoured to be haunted by the ghost of Constance de Beverley, a nun who broke her vows by falling in love with a knight. It’s no surprise to learn the inspiration for Dracula came from this very location. Our Scarborough St Nicholas Hotel is 19.5 miles away, so make a day of it and visit Whitby Beach while you’re in the area.
